Bird-A-Thon is a 24-hour birding event to introduce people to the pleasures of birding as well as improve the skills of those already involved.. Plum Island is a natural barrier island stretching 8.5 miles south along the Atlantic coast from the mouth of the Merrimack River. Hike Habitat to Stonehurst

The Western Greenway includes over 1,000 acres of green space running through Lexington, Waltham and Belmont. The Friends of the Western Greenway have been busy building trails, boardwalks, and bridges to extend the greenway trail that eventually will conntect all the parcels in a 12-mile loop. We now have reached an milestone; a 6.5 mile trail from Habitat to the Robert Treat Paine Estate, in Waltham, is now open for serious hiking. Wednesday, April 18--Sowing Seeds Time to start the garden. Spend time digging in the dirt, planting seeds and learning about the plants we eat. Take home your own mini-garden Thursday, April 19--Rotten and Stinking Dive into a compost bin or under a log and discover whos hard at work. Find out about natures FBI. Friday, April 20--Wonderful Water Its raining, its pouring...Travel through the water cycle and learn how water helps the planet survive.
